Used turtle top shuttle bus for sale | Call 516-333-7483 | 2008 Ford E450 TurtleTop Non-CDL Luxury Bus For Sale

 What is a shuttle service?

Shuttles are pickup and drop services offered to the general public. Often passengers are not charged a fee directly. Instead their institution or organization is billed. For example, when employees travel together from the parking lot to the company office in a shuttle bus, the costs incurred is payed by the company and not the employees. Similarly when devotees travel together in a church bus, the expenses are covered by the church or parish. Same principal applies to college students, sports teams, casinos, etc. When several people travel together in a group a shuttle service is needed to reduce dependence on several smaller vehicles and arrive at the venue punctually. It simultaneously improves group cohesion and reduces attrition in the long term. Any vehicle can offer a shuttle service however the term is often related to bus services. Because buses can carry more passengers than any other vehicle and travel up to the exact destination unlike a train service that drops passengers far away from the final destination.

Whenever there is a shortage of general public transportation services, shuttle buses are brought in by private operators to fulfill the transportation demand. In developed countries like the United States, shuttles buses became the go to vehicle for group transportation only when the 15 seater van was banned by the National Road Transportation Authority in 2006 due to safety concerns. The ban was reinforced with the increase in the cost of registration fees and insurance premiums. Owners were encouraged to get their vans replaced with used shuttle buses. Ever since the demand for second hand buses has increased year after year. Top automobile manufacturers entered the used bus market to offer transportation solution with their products. Some of the most popular brands were Ford, Chevrolet, Blue Bird, GMC, Eldorado, Turtle Top and many others.

Buying a used bus for sale from one of these brands is essential to keep it operational several years down the road. Because every vehicle needs regular maintenance and buses need more than an average car. Availability of spare parts is important to keep the vehicle moving throughout the year. Purchasing a bus from the brands mentioned above ensures the easy availability of spares in the local markets like Amazon, Ebay, Repair Shops or Dealerships. Turtle Top is one of the most trusted brands in the shuttle bus industry. A used turtle top shuttle bus for sale will never turn turtle during reflex traffic maneuvers or during sharp turns. Its tires will never blow out. The reason being it has a low center of gravity and the weight of the vehicle is secured with dual rear wheels. Which increases the overall stability of the entire vehicle.

Often spares have to be imported from other states or countries. It increases the cost of shipment. Finding expert technicians is difficult too. Buying a turtle top bus ensures its parts are readily available in the market. Its used version costs half the price of the newest versions. And due to east financing owning a owning a turtle top limo bus is simpler than ever before. There are several banking and non-banking financial institutions ready to finance the purchase at interest rates lower than market average.

Accessible bus for sale | Call 516-333-7483 | 2013 Ford E350 Non-CDL Wheelchair Shuttle Bus For Sale

Who invented the first wheelchair accessible bus?

Walter Harris Callow was a Canadian war veteran in WW2 who made the first wheelchair accessible bus to transport disabled veterans from their homes to the nearest medical facility. Wheelchair buses became common in the United States after the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed in 1995. The Act aims to provide equal opportunities to those with disabilities. In order to achieve this objective special vehicles had to be designed to transport handicapped persons in a safe and professional manner. Today these vehicles are fully automated with a powerful wheelchair lift at the rear. These lifts are capable of carrying loads more than 800 lbs. With a single press of a button the lift door opens and the lift unfolds to be deployed on the ground. Then the wheelchair bound passenger is rolled onto the lift. Once the position is secured, another press on the button elevates the lift along with the wheelchair and brings it to the level of the bus floor. The wheelchair can then be rolled inside the bus and fastened with the help of automatic wheelchair retractors. These belts ensure the wheelchair stays secured in its place even during rough and bumpy ride or while applying emergency brakes. It also stays safe during reflex traffic maneuvers or while taking sharp turns.

Sometimes it happens that a transportation company may not have wheelchair bound passengers. Other times it may happen they could not get sufficient healthy passengers. Accordingly the seats have to be adjusted to accommodate both types of passengers. Thus most wheelchair equipped buses for sale have dual flip seats. To accommodate one wheelchair, two full seats have to be folded and tucked to the side walls of the bus. Thus in a 15 passenger wheelchair shuttle bus for sale, there will be 7 double flip seats. Three on the left and four on the right hand side. On average it can seat up to 2 wheelchairs. However, if the buyer believes there will be a surge in demand by wheelchair bound persons. Then even the permanent seats can be converted into fixed seats. Thus, both the normal passengers and those bound to the wheelchair get to enter the bus and reach their destination on time.

Mobility issues

Though the lift equipped bus was manufactured to ferry people with disabilities. It has been frequently used by seniors who are not bound by the wheelchair. Because in advanced stages of life people find it difficult to climb the high stairs of a motor coach. In this situation, elders tend to stand on the deployed wheelchair lift and grab hold of its iron handles. When the driver pushes the interlock button, the senior gets lifted to the level of the bus floor from where they can walk straight inside the vehicle without raising their feet. Though its not recommended to use the lift for such purposes. However, the elders with mobility issues use it more than frequently.

Driver Training

There is a huge difference between a regular passenger bus for sale and a lift equipped bus for sale. The driver has to be trained accordingly to handle the latter. The reason being, most regular drivers cannot perceive the functioning of the lift and end up crashing it with other people and objects. According to research most complaints relating to wheelchair lifts arise due to the driver not being sufficiently trained and smashing it into somebody or something.

Cost

It should also be noted that these specially equipped vehicles cost more than the average motor coach. The difference can be from $8,000 to $12,000. Obviously due to the additional electronics and equipment. However, the ownership has been simplified with the availability of easy finance. The interest rates are lower than market average and those with a bad credit history often get approved.

Used Ford E-450 Bus For Sale | Call 516-333-7483 | 2013 Ford F-450 Super-Duty Wheelchair Shuttle Bus For Sale

There are several types of Ford-E450 buses for sale at the vehicle auction markets across the United States. Generally its classified on the basis of size small and medium. The smaller version is made from the 15 seater van chassis. The van body on top of the chassis is replaced by the body of a bus. Similarly in case of the medium size, the chassis is expanded and stretched to accommodate more seats. Ideally a small Ford E-450 can seat up to 15 passengers and its medium sized version can seat up to 24 passengers. However there are other variants available too like 16, 18, 21, 25 and 29 seater buses. Each having its own towing and loading capacity. It should also be noted that the small version does not require commercial license whereas the medium sized does. Similarly, the smaller version is operated by a gasoline engine. The medium version previously had a diesel engine but with the advancements in engine technology, their gasoline version is also available. The latter performs on par with the former in terms of cost effectiveness and fuel economy. On average the smaller version has a payload of 7000 pounds.

Every vehicle has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and a Gross Axle Weight Rating (GXWR). The overall weight should always be within this limit. One of the hazards of overloading is that the steel cage frame may get distorted permanently even if the passengers alighted within a few minutes. This could lead to the vehicle leaning in one direction. Or its tire suspensions wearing out. Either way the metal body rubs with the tires causing accidents and other catastrophic repairs. Overloading exerts tremendous pressure on the entire mechanical system. For example, research has shown that a fully loaded bus burns 9% more fuel than an empty bus. Thus more fuel will be burned if overloaded. Causing the release of more carbons and nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere. Then additional equipment will have to be purchased to prevent these emissions.

Due to the obesity pandemic across the USA, on boarding 9 passengers can easily cross a ton in weight. A 15 seater bus for sale can carry roughly up to 1.5 ton payload. Success in the transportation industry, depends on the total number of passengers ferried in a single trip. Though it may be profitable and lucrative to onboard more and more passengers, it drastically reduces the overall functionality of the vehicle. As the money flows in, more and more will have to be spent on fixing, repairing and purchasing fuel. Such buses subjected to heavy duty wear and tear are sold off at a cheaper price during resale.

Major Vehicle Exchange is a dealership that has sold hundreds of Ford E-450 across the United States over the past 35 years. Being a licensed dealership, we are bonded by state and federal regulations and other acts pertaining to automotive dealerships. Over the years we have created a long list of happy customers becoming the backbone of our enterprise. Transit Bus For Sale | Call 516-333-7483 | 2014 Ford E450 Wheelchair Bus For Sale

Buses are the best vehicles to transport a large number of people. In developing countries overcrowding is permissible but in developed countries like the United States its against the law to board more passengers than the total number of seats available. New buses are strong, sturdy and with a lot of bells and whistles that may not be required during daily transit. These features depreciate quickly when the tire hits the road. And its value keeps decreasing. In just one year the price of a new bus is reduced by half. Thus its not wise to spend $75,000+ on a brand new motor coach and lose almost $40,000 in the first year of operations. This means reselling the bus in the first year would fetch less than $35,000. Which is a substantial amount in today's economy. From the buyer's perspective buses are often a means of financial investment. They purchase and then monetize by transporting people on a daily basis. And when the need or demand for transportation diminishes, the owners quickly sell them off to other bus seekers. Thus owners make money not only by charging a fee to the passengers but also reselling the motor coach. Cumulatively the bus turns out to make more profits for the buyers than the initial cost of purchasing. So if it costs $75,000 at the time of purchase, then the total revenue generated over a span of 4 to 5 years should be more than $250,000. This is when bus ownership becomes profitable and an investment that grows with the passage of time. Its similar to the Real Estate where the owner gets monthly rentals and the total value of the property increases year after year. But in the bus business, the owner gets daily revenues and a substantial amount at the time of resale. The selling price is determined by several factors like age, mileage, type of fuel, engine and transmission, seating capacity and much more. And the overall condition of the vehicle. The resale price will be higher if the bus was maintained on a regular schedule and parked in a closed enclosure like a garage to protect it from the elements.

It's fantastic to start a bus business, however the biggest roadblocks in the ownership process is the high price of these vehicles. A simple 15 seater with manual transmission will cost $48,000 and upwards before taxes. Most buyers in the USA do not have a budget like that. It has been observed that passenger vehicles in the $15,000 to $35,000 price range sell faster compared to other high ticket buses. The only way to get a bus in this price range is to buy it second hand. One of the greatest benefits of buying a used transit bus for sale is that it depreciates at a slower pace than its brand new counterparts. Any vehicle depreciates faster in its initial stages of hitting the road. However, it slows down after several years in use. Most second hand transit buses for sale are more than 5 years of age and depreciate very slowly. So the owner ends up getting full value for his or her quid's because there are not losses due to depreciation. In the RV industry buses are converted into living rooms, purchased and sold at almost the same price. Similarly benefits can be reaped in the passenger transportation industry with used buses for sale. Since the prices are almost half than new buses, the returns on investment are faster.

Keeping the price and depreciation factors in mind, it would be wise to buy a preowned bus rather than a brand new one. It should be noted that two second hand buses can be purchased for the price of one new. Thus its easy for a transportation company to rapidly increase its fleet line with second hand transport buses for sale.

An 18 seater bus for sale will cost more than a 15 passenger not only due to the 3 additional seats but due to several other factors like the ones mentioned earlier. Similarly prices differ on the basis of brands and manufacturers too. For example Ford may price its buses at a higher rate compared to other brands simply because spare parts for Ford manufactured vehicles are easy to source in the local markets. Whereas other obsolete brands may require parts to be imported from other states or countries. Its better to pay a higher price for  a bus whose parts are easily available on Amazon and Ebay. Otherwise the lack of spares may lead to downtime and even an earlier resale.

Mobility Vehicle For Sale | Call 516-333-7483 | 2013 Ford E250 Wheelchair Medical Transport Van For Sale

This is a Great vehicle if you have a wheelchair and want a minivan plus something that is easy to drive. A mobility van for sale usually operates at 28 miles per gallon. And it is also very simple. It has a rear entry wheelchair lift so it can be parked in any parking spot. Owners don't have to wait for the parking spot to be empty beside them. Moreover it's all mechanical with no electric or moving parts. Everything is just simple and it just works with the human touch. We have a nice gentle approach ramp 30 inches wide. It has Q'Straints tie downs. This is something new added to the front electric Q'Straints. The reason is the long straps with the electric Q'Straints. So basically hook up the Q'Straints to the front of the wheelchair and retract while going upwards. But the straps retract automatically while pulling it up. So when the wheelchair is in here, one does not have to climb around to get the straps in the front. To disengage the straps, just turn off the switch and then release the straps and turn it on. The emergency break has to be in the emergency break position. The back Q'Straints are just the normal typical Q'Straints and it also has a shoulder belt Q'Straint. The Ramp is a bi-fold ramp. When the ramp is up, it's got two latches to keep it in place while travelling down the road. Then there is the bi-fold rear door.

There is room for five passengers plus a wheelchair. Financing is available on this vehicle if the buyers need financing. Many of our customers take advantage of the financing option we have in place to purchase their vehicles. The cockpit has got a lot of head room with power windows and door locks. The steering wheel has hands free connectivity and cruise control at the drivers fingertips. It is equipped with a radio and backup camera with navigation and air conditioning controls. There is Transmission, emergency brakes, beverage holders, charger ports. A really nice vehicle, nice to drive. Very simple wheelchair conversion. Make this work for you. Solve some transportation needs and desires you have. Give us a call at 516-333-7483 if you have any questions, we will be happy to answer.

14 seater bus for sale | Call 516-333-7483 | 2013 Ford E350 Non-CDL Diamond Shuttle Bus For Sale

 Where to buy a bus?

So you want to start a bus company. Well, tip number 1 don't do it, you will lose your shirt. It's a trap. A thousand year old booby trap. Owning a 14 seater bus for sale and running a bus company is expensive. It's also a very fulfilling and noble business. Motor coach companies get a kick out of hauling large groups of people from point A to point B in comfort. Without trying to push a product on any one or trying to roll people on some plan. Bus companies just want to give a comfortable ride on their fleet of land yachts.

Buying the first pre-owned Motor Coach

Investing tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars on a used 14 seater bus for sale is a scary thing. Especially when the buyers don't know which type of bus to buy. One can definitely make a good start on a new bus company or conversion motorhome and get a nice long life out of a used bus, instead of going on a half million dollar debt buying a new bus.

Check the mileage on both Engine and Transmission

Just like purchasing a car, one always needs to make sure to check the mileage. When purchasing a 14 seater mini bus for sale, the body or the chassis, maybe on a second engine or transmission. Don't let that scare you though. Because a motor coach chassis can have a much longer life span in comparison to your personal vehicle. Some are known to have reached up to 2 or 3 million miles and be on its second or third set of engines or transmissions before reaching the end of its life. With that said the mileage on the engine and transmission may be different than the chassis of the coach. Be sure not to rely on the odometer. Obtain records from the previous owners and dealers. Whether the engine and the transmissions are original ones and how many miles on them?

Body damage and rust

It's going to be more likely that a used bus for sale will have more dings and scratches than that of a used car. Buses are 45 feet long and spend a lot more time on the road than a personally owned vehicle. So a scratch on a panel door or a missing bumper corner is not going to be that big of a deal. Because chances are it will be replaced over and over again with more and more trips. When it comes to body damage, pop the luggage bay open and look for frame damage. These are going to be caused by more severe crashes and impact. Any vehicle with a bent frame should be avoided. Rust is a bad thing to have whether a 14 passenger bus for sale, a car or even a radio flyer wagon. Rust will slowly eat away the body, costing a lot of money down the road to repair. Letting it to spread can create more problems down the road. Also rust starts forming on the frame, chances are there will be rust elsewhere on the coach. Most buses for sale these days have fiberglass panels. So rust won't be found on the outside. However, not all manufacturers are making buses with fiberglass panels. So in certain make and models rust may be apparent with a detailed inspection.

Modernized Amenities

Everybody in the modern age has mobile devices, cell phones and tablets. Accordingly the passengers are going to expect the bus to have USB ports and other outlets on the bus. So they can plugin their mobile devices, while they ride to their destination. Many older model buses prior to 2013 or 2014 won't have outlets and USB ports installed on the seats. All motor coach companies try to keep the passengers happy by installing these after-market outlets. Check if the previous owner has installed these outlets and USB ports. If yes, then the buyer has a bonus because chances are the dealer is not going to add that into the final pricing of things. If one cant decide which bus to buy, then take the time to check which has outlets and USB ports installed.

Geographical location of where the bus came from

The geographical location is also an important factor. 14 passenger buses for sale that come from the west coast like California and Nevada tend to have more life because the seasons are not extreme. Thus the seals are going to be a lot better, the tires will be better, also the shocks are going to be warm due to all the snow and ice, there aren't many pot holes on the roads.

Coaches coming from the east coast such as New York, New Jersey are going to experience a lot more temperature changes, they will be sitting under the sun. Moreover running through a lot of salt causes a lot of corrosion of wires, metal frames and suspension. So when buying a used bus for sale find out where it used to be operated.

Bus Interior

A 14 passenger bus for sale will have many features like reclining seats, retractable arm and foot rests. TV monitors, and speakers throughout the cabin. On top of that there will also be a DVD player that powers the monitors. Making sure that each component is fully functional will save a lot of time, money and headache down the road.

Make sure all recalls are done and up to date

Anything complex like a 15 passenger bus for sale is going to have manufacturing defects and recalls. Even if the coach is a used one, the previous owners or the dealers should always have documentation that shows any open manufacturing recalls have been taken care of and not expired. Otherwise the defect caused by the manufacturer, which at one point could be fixed for free now becomes chargeable. And now since the recall has expired it will be cash out of the pocket after purchasing the coach. After dropping a couple hundred thousand dollars, buyers don't want to fix any recalls

Tire treads and spare tire

Not only the tires of the bus cost twice as much as the tires of a car. But there are more of them. A standard 45 foot motor coach has 8 tires plus a spare that costs around five hundred dollars each. That is four thousand dollars every time the tires are changed. And if the company is kept busy the tires will have to be changed quicker than normal. So when buying a 15 passenger bus for sale make sure to get decent tires along with it.

Engine and Transmission codes

Check there are no engine fault codes on the dashboard computers when buying the coach. If there are any kind of lights on the dash. Ask the dealer or seller to plug in a diagnostic computer and show the code. Even better take a diesel tech along to help fix the code and decide the purchase. Sometimes the computer can display a techno babble that only a diesel tech can understand. Take a picture of the code and text it to a friend or Google it. Don't buy a 15 seater bus for sale with a light on the dashboard without finding out what it means first.

Call the previous owner and see why they traded  it in

Unlike used cars, in most cases it's really easy to find out which company previously owned the coach. If you are purchasing from a dealer, find out which company previously operated it. Most of the time the previous bus company can be called to speak to their technician or manager. On careful inspection one can find the number the coach was designated by the previous company it used to operate for. Even if all the decals have been removed, chances are there will be an outlier or discoloration of where the number used to be and make out what it is. The company can reveal a lot of history of the vehicle and the reason for selling it.

Ask if the bus can be pulled over a pit or raised in the air

Whenever you go to look at a potential purchase of your shiny new bus. Always ask the seller to either drive it over a pit or lift it up in the air so you can get a nice look at the underside of the bus. This is so important and not out of the question when it comes to the fact that the seller is about to spend tens of thousands of dollars. If the seller does not have a pit or a lift. Ask to drive it to someone who does. Once underneath the bus, look for worn out suspension components, calipers, rotors, listen for air leaks. Also look for signs to see if the coach is bottomed out somewhere. Bent metal is always a bad sign.

Check HVAC system operation

A motor coach relies heavily on its HVAC system to keep its passengers warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Coach buses do not have open windows and turn into an incubator if the AC fails on a hot summer day. Coaches are also not insulated very well. In the winter without heat it turns into an icebox. Make sure the cabin will heat up and cool down accordingly. Also check for any codes on the HVAC control panel.

Test drive

Never buy a coach without test driving it on the interstate or city roads. Check to see if the coach pulls to the left or right while cruising and breaking. Make sure the transmission shifts smoothly without hesitation. Any jerking or shuttering during shifting signals a problem with the transmission. Test the brakes at highway speeds as well as intercity. Listen for clunking or lose metal sounds when hitting bumps on the road as well as rattling. Some rattling may not be an issue but make sure to identify it.

The point is, don't buy a used coach and sink another ten to twenty grand after getting it home. You want something that is road worthy and ready for your passengers when you bring it back to your shop. Also make sure the new second hand coach can pass professional FMCSA and DOT inspections. Thus making profits to pay off the debt. Always bring an experienced technician during the purchasing process.
